This list started off as just a list of unique things to do in Las Vegas but it’s expanded since then. Although I like having things on the list that are around Las Vegas because they provide some inspiration for locals looking for fun road trips to go on, I definitely need to add more things to do that are actually in the city of Las Vegas.

Recent statistics tell us that a mere 5% of the 37 million tourists who go to Las Vegas say gambling is the reason. So, what do the other 95% have in mind?

Well, there’s a menu of options like no other city in the US. From the Zombie Apocalypse to topless pools, neon lights can cast pretty weird shadows.

The strip may not offer enough kink for hire for your tastes. If not, there’s a legal brothel an hour’s drive away to Pahrump. Prefer more legal fun? A Las Vegas Escort Agency lets you order by phone.

If you are more voyeur than participant, there’s a swinger’s club with an observation deck. After a dealer sweeps your last hand at the blackjack table, it’s time to check out these crazy things to do in Vegas.

Don’t worry, this oasis in the desert keeps all your secrets, too.

Topless Pools

Clothing optional sunbathing isn’t anything new. There are infamous beaches which offer the freedom to tan all your square footage in both the US and Europe.

And they’re not for booby-loving men. The eight best topless pools in Las Vegas report an even amount of regulars of both sexes.

Birthday suit connoisseurs who prefer broad daylight enjoy cabanas, food, drink, and music. The only rule here is no pictures. No selfies, either.

Swinger’s Clubs

In Vegas, they call them social clubs and those who join up for the night revel in themes for various rooms. Most rooms have rules about who enters, such as couples only.

The savvy staff has seen it all, and they’ll stop scofflaw creeps before anyone loses their mood. The clubs enjoy equal men to women ratio and don’t let their slick marketing fool you.

All ages and sizes of grown-ups are welcome. For newbies, there are relaxing areas for a swim. Or, drinks and dancing where the clothing is beautiful, too.

The Porn Convention

There are more than 3700 conventions every year in sin city, but the most popular by far is the Porn Convention. Held every January, it’s the most significant event in adult entertainment.

Avid fans can meet their fantasy face to face, snap pictures, and check out their latest work. This year’s star in the feast of flesh is Stormy Daniels.

She also caught the attention of police during her headliner at a nearby strip club. There were no charges. But, it gave the convention ever bigger press over the Consumer Electronics Show.

The Cromwell’s Famous Two-Way

The Cromwell Hotel rooms are a mainstay on the strip, and well worth the benjis you’ll need to get one. The crown jewel is the two-way mirror between the shower and the bedroom.

As we know, the best suites are those with a great view. In the Cromwell, all you need to adjust is the lighting.

Adult Theater

Strip clubs are everywhere in Vegas. But the adult theaters of the area offer a more intimate vantage point. The topless shows provide classic burlesque versions and more modern, gritty fare too.

Bally’s and The Rio are favorite spots to take in a play between dinner and the slots.

Your Little Friend

Ever wonder what it’s like to shoot an AK47? Step away from the game console and into The Gun Store. You can fire 50 rounds of ammo for less than 40 dollars in the firing range.

With your choice of weapon. They have a variety of targets too, and kids can kill what they can for half price.

Get Your Insane On

If losing your paycheck at the poker table doesn’t send shivers down your spine, try jumping off a roof. Las Vegas loves its thrill rides.

It’s the 1,000-foot tall Stratosphere building who offers poop your pants rides on its roof. The “big shot” catapults you straight up into the air. The “insanity” starts with your feet dangling from 1000 feet.

Then, it spins you enough to projectile vomit your free buffet. The “sky jump” suits you up for safety, then lets you fall 108 feet straight down.

Let a Few Dicks Into Your Life

Dick’s Last Resort has food and drink, and a big helping of insulting sarcasm to wash it all down. Servers bully, insult, and zing patrons.

There are enough merciless one-liners to make Rodney Dangerfield blush. It’s all in good fun and the grub’s pretty good, too.

Stock Up For the Apocolypse

If you wonder how you would fare against the walking dead, here’s the chance to prove yourself. The Zombie Apocolypse Store helps get you ready to drink from the skulls of your enemies.

Not only can you stock up on gas masks and zombie survival books, but you can challenge your dead foes to paintball.

Secret Pizza

Las Vegas sports some of the most exquisite food in North America. Visitors can choose from every continent’s best dishes, too. For the hub of excellent food, locals and tourists flock to The Cosmopolitan.

The trendy locale has more food choices in one spot than many cities offer. Some who wander past the Cosmopolitan larger eateries will find a “hidden” corridor.

The hidden hallway leads to a nameless pizza joint with the best pie on the planet. And, they sell by the slice.

Crazy Things to Do in Vegas is Nothing New

If these crazy things to do in Vegas are inspiring you, make the trip. It’s well worth the affordable plane ride to get there.

And, if you think there’s little you can do to tip the weird scale, remember the history of the place.

In the 1950’s, tourists came from all over the world to watch nuclear bomb testing in the desert. Nothing will surprise Las Vegas after that.

Paris Hilton supposedly visits this pet store every time she comes to Las Vegas. I’ve got to warn you though, the store is tiny! But if you’re on East Tropicana and if your dream has been to play with a baby ferret (which are illegal in many states), then this is the place to go. Read more…

Pose for photos in a fake electric chair at the Mob Museum

The mob museum isn’t free but the exhibits are highly interactive, which make it worth while.

Ride your bike in Blinking Man! It’s part pub crawl and part psychedelic bicycle parade

It’s like Burning Man but on a bike! Decorate your bike with lights, put on a fun costume and join several 100 other people for a bike ride around downtown Las Vegas. It’s totally random and fun and 100 percent free. Read more…

Visit the oldest saloon in Las Vegas

See some giant rainbow-colored rocks in the middle of the desert

About 20 to 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas, in Jean, Nevada, are seven towers of colorful painted rocks called “Seven Magic Mountains”. If you’re driving to or from Los Angeles on the I-15, it makes for a fun souvenir selfie (plus it’s free!), but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend making a special trip out there to see it. Read more…

Hang out with some wild big-horned sheep in Boulder City

30 minutes outside of Las Vegas, in Boulder City, Nevada, is a small, nondescript neighborhood park where wild, big-horned sheep congregate every evening just before sunset. If you’re in Boulder City to see the Hoover Dam, this park can be a fun pit stop on the way back to Las Vegas. Read more…

Soak in some hot springs

Las Vegas is home to several natural hot springs. The only way to get there is by hiking or paddling on a kayak, so only physically active people should attempt to go. It’s worth the effort because the hot mineral water will feel good on your sore muscles—just don’t drink or accidentally swallow any of the spring water; it could kill you. Read more…

Tour a gold mine

This is slightly gimmicky but worth it if you’re willing to drive over an hour outside of Las Vegas (you can stop in Boulder City—a cute town next to the Hoover Dam—on your way there). Several movies/music videos and photo shoots have been filmed at the gold mine because of the cute vintage cars and old west gas station and cabins. It’s a great place to take fun photos. Read more…

This exotic animal sanctuary is about an hour outside of Las Vegas and worth the day trip if you have the time. You’ll have to arrange a visit in advance, because at time of writing, the sanctuary was accepting tours by appointment only. The price is just $10 to $15. Read more…

Buy a cactus at a large cactus store in the middle of the desert

If you’re driving to Pahrump, Death Valley or Red Rock Canyon, then you should make a quick pit stop at this store. Even if you don’t buy anything, the shop is so unique—with its 100s of plants, helicopter, church, labyrinth and pet dogs—that it’s fun just to wander through. Go on a sleigh ride at Mt Charleston

This is SUPER LAME if you’re from somewhere cold, say most of the continental US, but if you’re a local Las Vegas resident and you’re looking for something to do in the winter time, I recommend it! You can go get hot chocolate at one of the lodges afterwards and take in the snowy mountain views. The best part? Mt. Charleston is only 45 minutes outside of Vegas. Or if you’re REALY brave, you can try a little winter camping! Though I don’t know if I recommend that exactly. Read more…

Weekend Trip

Go alien hunting near Area 51

This isn’t in Las Vegas or anywhere near it, really. But if you’re looking for something super unique to do, you don’t get any more unique than camping at Area 51. Definitely plan on camping there, as there isn’t much to see and so driving out there just for the day doesn’t make sense. Go in the late afternoon, visit the Lil Ale Inn for dinner and then head over to the Area 51 gates at dusk. You can pitch a tent, sleep under the stars and search for UFOs and then head back to Las Vegas the next morning. Read more…

Visit Bedrock City (a Flintstones theme park)

I only recommend visiting this place if you’re driving to the Grand Canyon, as it’s in the middle of nowhere and too far from Vegas for a day trip. The park is incredibly cheesy and bordering on “lame,” but the entrance fee is cheap and you can take a lot of funny/cute photos there. Read more…

Visit a car forest in Goldfield, Nevada

A little over three hours outside of Las Vegas (towards Death Valley) is the world’s largest ‘car forest.’ Two Nevada artists took 40 old cars, painted them, and then arranged them out in the desert. It’s quite the site to see! I recommend checking it out if you’re driving to Tonopah or Reno. Read more…

Go camping at a waterfall in Grand Canyon National Park

The hike to the waterfall is 11 miles and you’ll need to get a permit ahead of time in order camp or even hike there (they’ll turn you away at the village if you aren’t on their list of people who’ve pre-paid). The trailhead is about 2 1/2 hours away from Las Vegas (closer to Vegas than the Grand Canyon, although technically it’s in The Grand Canyon National Park). Read more…

Visit a Bottle Forest

At the Bottle Tree Ranch, near Victorville, California, you can take pictures of a “bottle tree forest.” I’d only recommend stopping by if you’re driving from LA, as it’s far closer to LA then it is to Vegas (it’s off the 15, about three hours from Las Vegas). But if you’re coming from Southern California on the I-15 and are looking for a fun detour to break up the drive, it might be worth it. It’s only about 20 minutes off the freeway, on historic Route 66. It’s free! Read more…

Go hiking at Bryce Canyon National Park

This is definitely not a day trip destination, as it is a four hour drive from Las Vegas. But it’s near both Zion National Park and The Grand Canyon and is a great place to visit if you’re traveling to either of those places. It also makes for an awesome weekend camping getaway. Go in the summer! Bryce is at a higher elevation and is an ideal place to visit if you’re in search of a place to go to escape the desert heat. Read more…

A medieval castle in the middle of the hottest stretch of desert in the US? Yep! It exists! And although the castle is cool, Death Valley is even cooler!
